DOT AND CROSS DIAGRAMS OF IONIC COMPOUNDS, SODIUM SCLORIDE, Electrons are present around , electron, metalrod, cloud

DOT AND CROSS DIAGRAMS OF IONIC COMPOUNDS:

Electrons are present around the nucleus at distance in the form of cloud. Exact position of an electron cannot be represented.  Orbital always shows area where probability of finding the electrons is maximum. Hence, dot and cross diagram of a compound do not show the exact position of an electron but it is a metalrod to show transference or sharing of electrons in a compound.

 SODIUM SCLORIDE:

It is an ionic compound which is formed due to transference of electrons from sodium (positive ion) to chloride (negative ion).

Sodium chloride lattice is cubic or more accurately defined it is centred face cubic lattice i.e; each face of a cube has a particle at its centre.
